Awarded grants in 2016

The Magnus Ehrnrooth foundation has on March 6 2016 awarded 177 grantees totally 1 709 827 euro in support of basic research in mathematics, astronomy, physics and chemistry, including medical chemistry. This sum includes 40 000 euro granted to 6 recipients in support of developing teaching of natural sciences and mathematics in the schools

The total number of applications was 840 for a total amount 13.5 million euro.

45 researchers received graduate student scholarships for one year or half a year, 21 researchers received postdoc-stipends, 60 research projects received support and 51 researchers received travel grants.

Support was awarded to the various fields of science as follows: mathematics 201 097 €, astronomy 63 440 €, physics 501 890 €, chemistry 362 700 € and medical chemistry 540 700 €.

Den biggest receiver of support is the University of Helsinki, 78 awards amounting to 688 820 €, followed by Åbo Akademi University, 32 awards, 348 000 €, Aalto university, 15 awards, 151 550 €, University of Turku, 15 awards, 138 595 €, University of Oulu, 9 awards, 118 500 € and University of Jyväskylä, 8 awards, 101 280 €.
